This event was part of the 10 year celebrations of Building Bridges in Burnley, whose aim is to do just that, Build Bridges between people all ages and backgrounds. The idea for this event was to create an opportunity for people who don’t normally get involved in cohesion events or interfaith activities.
We had over 200 people of all ages and backgrounds passing through during the afternoon (4pm-7pm), families having fun together, enjoying the sunshine and the activities.
Activities included a mountain bike time trial, with £10 to be won every half an hour, ball sports like football, cricket and rounders, a skipping and hula hoop challenge, inflatable sumo-balls, traditional street games and tug-of-war.
Thank you to all the people who helped, included the Friends of Queens Park, Burnley Borough Council staff, the police, park rangers and paramedics, Afrasaib from the Faith Centre and all the Building Bridges staff, volunteers and board members who helped organise the event and took part on the day.
