Beavers Mosque Visit
St Matthew with Holy Trinity Beaver Scout Colony have been working towards their faith badge since the beginning of January and as part of the badge they visited the Ibrahim Mosque on Clegg Street through the Building Bridges in Burnley programme on Friday 5th February 2010.
The boys, their parents and leaders were shown around by the Margaret the Building Bridges representative, Mr Iqbal the Imam, and two young men who had just finished their evening classes at the Mosque. The Beavers were shown the Wudhu washing areas, Jama’at Khana prayer room and Madrasa where children receive their Urdu, Arabic or Qur’an classes. They were also invited to see the beginning of the evening prayer, Esha.
The boys completed all elements of the badge in a Church Parade service and were presented by Father Mark at St Matthew with Holy Trinity Church on Sunday 7th February.
