Celebrating our 10th Anniversary

We have a whole week of activities culminating with a day of celebration to mark the tenth anniversary of Building Bridges in Burnley. That’s ten years of Interfaith and Community Cohesion work. Here you will find the full itinerary for the week.

Sunday 17th June 2pm

Faith Walk in partnership with Active Spaces

Everyone is welcome. You can join the Faith Walk at any point and drop out at any point.

 Starting at 2p.m. from the Parish Church All Saints, Habergham

3.10p.m.  Sion Baptist Church

Monday 18th June 10am

Lancashire SACRE, at the Faith Centre, Barden Lane, BB10 1JD

The Standing Advisory Council On Religious Education (SACRE) advises a local education authority on matters connected with the provision of religious education and collective worship in schools.

The Lancashire Youth SACRE will meet, in private, at the same place and time on Tuesday to discuss religious education and collective worship issues affecting students.

On both days the SACRE members will be welcomed to the Borough by the Mayor and Mayoress

Tuesday 19th June 7pm

Face to Faith (Women) Share Faith – Share Food at St. Peter’s Church 7pm

Dr Helen Reid from Bradford Churches For Dialogue and Diversity will be the guest speaker. Those attending will be involved in a variety of activities like sharing the meaning of names; dressing up in traditional clothes; bringing an object which is of importance and telling the group its significance.  Please bring food to share.

Wednesday 20th June 4pm

Family Sports 4 – 7pm Queen’s Park

Free activities include:- Inflatable assault course, Football + Beat the goalie , Cricket and Rounders, Mountain Biking, Trikes and Tug Of War, Crown Green Bowling, Skatepark, Tennis, Play activities – i.e. old street games – hopscotch / marble/ gilly danda, Face Painting/ Henna.

Refreshments available at the Pavilion Café, Queen’s Park

Prizes – £10 iTunes vouchers -

  1. Best time on inflatable assault course
  2.  Person with most skips.

Thursday 21st June, 3.30pm- 5.30pm

The Voice of Inspired Youth

for teachers, faith leaders and parents at the Faith Centre, Barden Lane, BB10 1JD

Students from two neighbouring Burnley colleges (Blessed Trinity RC College and Sir John Thursby Community College) and one from Accrington (The Hollins Technological College) will tell how and why they made short films to demonstrate their values and beliefs. One of the films won a national award. They will answer audience questions.

Sunday 24th June 3.30pm – 5.30pm Building bridges in Burnley AGM including presentation of Community Awards.

St. Andrews Church and Church Hall

4pm onwards 10th celebration in the church hall. The keynote speakers are Dr Harriet Crabtree of the UK Interfaith Network and Sughra Ahmed from the International Policy and Research Centre. They will speak about the future  and the role of BBB.  Gordon Birtwistle MP will also be a guest.  There will be presentations by The Bridge young people, a display of  banners and DVD presentations of the history of BBB and of faith buildings in the Borough. The celebration will be followed by a buffet  in the church hall.
