Lancashire Council of Mosques

Lancashire Council of Mosques was established in 1989 as an umbrella organisation representing all the Mosques and religious teaching institutions in Lancashire. The initial establishment was fuelled by a desire to provide a united and uniform platform in order to promote the needs and aspirations of the county’s Muslim community. LCM has, through the support of its affiliated Mosque organisations and Lancashire County Council, endeavoured over the last decade to place the individual and collective needs of the Asian heritage community firmly on the agenda of all service providers within the county.

This new and exciting facility established and funded by Lancashire County Council in September 2006 works with educational establishments and local partners across Burnley and Pendle and is located within the new Burnley Campus on Barden Lane, Burnley. The Faith Centre consists of a spiritual space, a quiet room available for meetings as well as prayer and reflection and resources to deliver inspirational and integrated learning opportunities. Overall, the Faith Centre aims to increase understanding and welcome the rich diversity of this area, in all its forms.

BPRCVS provide a range of services to the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sector, including help with setting up new groups, constitutions and custom grant searches.

Burnley Action Partnership (BAP) is a 'Local Strategic Partnership' (LSP). The establishment of LSPs in local authority areas that received Neighbourhood Renewal Funding (NRF), which is now the Working Neighbourhoods Fund (WNF), was a requirement of the Local Government Act 2000. BAP is the Partnership for Burnley with organisations from the private, public, voluntary, community and faith sectors that work in and for Burnley.

Masjid Ibrahim

The mosque in which the main offices of Building Bridges in Burnley are situated, was established in 1995 and is a key partner in the delivery of Building Bridges in Burnley's cohesion agenda. The mosque has opened its door to all communities for many years, hosting many of BBB's events and working in partnership with public services including Lancashire Constabulary and Lancashire Fire and Rescue. The mosque is funded through donations from its congregation and is adminstered by a committee of volunteers.

Interfaith Links

The Inter Faith Network for the UK was founded in 1987 to promote good relations between people of different faiths in this country.  Its member organisations include representative bodies from the Baha'i; Buddhist; Christian; Hindu; Jain; Jewish; Muslim; Sikh; and Zoroastrian communities; national and local inter faith bodies; and academic institutions and educational bodies concerned with inter faith issues.

The Christian Muslim Forum

The Christian Muslim Forum launched in January 2006, realising a strategic initiative, begun by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 2001, considering the advisability of a bilateral forum bringing together in one body the range of Christian Churches and Muslim traditions in England.
