A Safer Winter
2nd February 2010
Building Bridges in Burnley, in partnership with Lancashire Fire and Rescue launched a Christmas safety project over the festive season. The partnership’s work was focused on addressing the safety needs of the Christian communities celebrating during the festive season, with an aim to reducing the occurrence of fires, and deaths resulting from them.
During the four week project, churches, luncheon groups and community clubs were visited by the help of Building Bridges in Burnley. Faz Patel of the Fire Service talked about safety at home and how to be safe during the festive season, providing free fire home safety checks. Faz Patel officially thanked BBB, especially Nasrullah and Sandra for their support and the BBB management team, for helping to make this initiative a success. As a result of the project there was an increase in home safety and check and actual reduction in the number of fires in the Burnley area during the festive months.
BBB is grateful to Faz Patel and Lancashire Fire and Rescue for their active participation in BBB initiatives and their support in promoting interfaith values and cohesion in Burnley. We look forward to working with them over 2010 with a host of other new initiatives.
