Not Such a Silent Night at Turf Moor.

IMG_4067.JPG

Burnley FC. In the Community held their annual carol event on 11th of December. We were seated in a warm and comfortable area and were entertained by children from three schools and a local brass band. The choirs of St James’ School, St Stephen’s School serenaded us with a carol each, whilst St Mary’s gave a lively nativity presentation which mirrored the title of the evening ‘Not Such a Silent Night’. Few of us will forget the cows ‘mooing’, the donkeys ‘hee hawing’ , the sheep ‘baa-ing’ and especially the baby ‘wah wahing’ as the shepherds were quietly ‘quaking’.
We were all invited to sing several carols with children reading short verses from the nativity story to link the carols. There were hot drinks and mince pies available.
There was a final collection, shared between Tear Fund, HOPE, and Sports Chaplaincy UK.
Thank you to all involved especially Burnley Churches Together and Liz Hewitt of Bethesda URC.
